Welcome to Teign Crest! - The criteria for a successful holiday are few and simple - open spaces, spectacular views, fresh air, a welcoming host and a comfortable bed. Teign Crest is a small family run "home stay" which has been in the same family for over 50 years providing all this and more!
Shaldon a small picturesque village is situated at the mouth of the River Teign. Our house is Georgian style with Victorian additions. It's on the level, in the heart of the village over looking the Teign estuary. All rooms have river and sea views. We have a terrace garden overlooking the beach and river where you can sit and watch the numerous small craft sail past, see the oldest passenger ferry crossing the mouth of the estuary to Teignmouth and on the opposite bank , watch the big coasters navigate the channel to load and unload at the port of Teignmouth.

Why not swim in the river which is on a beautiful sandy beach or, explore the various rock pools at low tide and walk across to "salty" a small island in the middle of the Teign and rake your own cockles. Take a walk to the "Ness" - the imposing cliff at the mouth of the Teign and walk through the smugglers tunnel to the secluded "Ness Cove". On the way back - visit the Rare breed Zoo.

Nearby is Dartmoor National Park. If you are energetic - climb a Tor or take a guided walk and learn about the granite railway. Totnes with it's many artisan shops and twice weekly flee market is a must! The city of Exeter, Torquay, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Stoke Fleming are also worth a visit and easily accessible. Day trips by coach can be booked to the Eden Project, or North and East Devon.
